Started to rain last might about 10 ocloek.. Whie Germine sound the
ground covered with snow but did het last long. Practically all gone by
evening except north exposures. Also started tae snow about 3 oclock
for just & minute er go. This afternoon walked out to the edge of

town to eollect a few bugs. Mr. Strong owns a field adjacent to the

old eity junk pile and he has been rather negleet in its upkeep. The

neglect is in favor for the bug collector for the many piles of wood

and logs strewn around make for ideal habitats for mahy of the ground
insects. Practically every board that was turned over harbored the
omnipresent Poreellis. Under oné board a square foot bhédherbored over

1,000 of these bugs including small oenes8 cr this size to larger ones
ef Vite si2¢ . They ranged in color from.cream. through red to

active. The jumping: beetle was taken under a board in a rather damp
habitet. It was very active, Associated with him was the sow tug,
spiders, crickets and ants. A green beetle (7) appeared to be the most
active of the beetles collected, taken from under log in a very damp
situation. The earabids were more or less active while the searabids
were extremely inactive. The click beetles (8( were found under a
tbhoard lying upon a mat of grass; a much Grier situation. The remaining

beetles(9) and insects were all taken under cover of boards and logs
