After joining KU’s faculty in 1976 she was instrumental in building a textile design program known throughout the world. During her interview she relates her experiences as a student at the Rhode Island School of Design and L’Ecole D’Art Decoratif in France during the 1950s. She shares memories of becoming part of the fiber art movement of the 1960s and the selling and exhibiting of her work. She discusses her time teaching in the art department at KU in 1970s and concludes with reflections on changes in her field mainly because of the use of computers in both textile art and industry.</mods:abstract><mods:name type="personal"><mods:namePart>Schira, Cynthia</mods:namePart><mods:role><mods:roleTerm authority="marcrelator" type="text">Interviewee</mods:roleTerm><mods:roleTerm authority="marcrelator" type="code">ive</mods:roleTerm></mods:role></mods:name><mods:identifier type="pid">ku-endacott:117</mods:identifier><mods:identifier type="uri">https://digital.lib.ku.edu/ku-endacott/117</mods:identifier><mods:identifier displayLabel="Call number" type="local">CT 464</mods:identifier><mods:subject><mods:topic authority="fast" valueURI="http://id.worldcat.org/fast/889145">Decorative design</mods:topic></mods:subject><mods:subject><mods:topic authority="fast" valueURI="http://id.worldcat.org/fast/1173203">Weaving</mods:topic></mods:subject><mods:subject><mods:topic authority="fast" valueURI="http://id.worldcat.org/fast/473433">Schira, Cynthia, 1934-</mods:topic></mods:subject><mods:subject><mods:topic authority="fast" valueURI="http://id.worldcat.org/fast/530405">University of Kansas</mods:topic></mods:subject><mods:subject><mods:topic authority="fast" valueURI="http://id.worldcat.org/fast/1047055">Oral history</mods:topic></mods:subject><mods:language><mods:languageTerm type="text">eng</mods:languageTerm><mods:languageTerm authority="iso639-2b" type="code"/></mods:language><mods:physicalDescription><mods:form authority="fast" valueURI="http://id.worldcat.org/fast/1047055">Oral history</mods:form><mods:form/><mods:internetMediaType>application/pdf</mods:internetMediaType><mods:digitalOrigin>reformatted digital</mods:digitalOrigin></mods:physicalDescription><mods:typeOfResource>text</mods:typeOfResource><mods:relatedItem displayLabel="Original audio" type="otherFormat"><mods:titleInfo><mods:title>Cynthia Schira--Endacott Society Interview</mods:title></mods:titleInfo><mods:physicalDescription><mods:form authority="marcform">electronic</mods:form><mods:internetMediaType>audio/mpeg</mods:internetMediaType></mods:physicalDescription><mods:typeOfResource>sound recording-nonmusical</mods:typeOfResource></mods:relatedItem><mods:relatedItem type="host"><mods:titleInfo><mods:title>Endacott Society Oral History Collection</mods:title></mods:titleInfo><mods:location><mods:physicalLocation authority="fast" valueURI="http://id.worldcat.org/fast/530405">University of Kansas</mods:physicalLocation><mods:physicalLocation>University of Kansas.
