Perhaps coincidentally, the upper figure closely resembles that in George Edwards' engraving of 1751. Layout sketch, a little weak, colored; at head of page "Iris very dark brown / Mr Lear." The reference to "Mr. Lear" may well be to the plate of Psittacus badiceps in Lear's monograph on the Psittacidae--the coloring is slightly different from Lear's plate, the composition completely so.
