  <dc:title>Broadside, &quot;Fremont Dayton Meeting&quot;</dc:title>
  <dc:creator>Webb, Thomas H. (Hopkins) , 1801-1866 (Creator)</dc:creator>
<dc:description>This broadside advertised a meeting of &quot;the friends of Fremont and Dayton, and all opposed to the Cincinnati Platform and the extension of Slavery into Free Kansas&quot;. John C. Fremont was the newly-formed Republican party&apos;s candidate for the Presidency in 1856; William L. Lewis was his running mate. The pair favored admitting Kansas to the Union as a free state, but did not support the Cincinnati Platform, which would put the issue of slavery to a popular vote in Kansas Territory.</dc:description>
