<mods:abstract>Man pitching wheat from the top of horse-drawn wagon. "Mighty farm machines thunder through nearly all of America's wheat fields at harvest time, but reaping the grain is still a picturesque--if backbreaking--horse and wagon job on one spread near Halstead, Kan. Farmer Bud Westerman (pitching wheat atop the wagon) is one of the last farmers in the area to cut wheat and harvest it the old fashioned way. The newborn colt beside the wagon is accompanying its mother on the day's work." Pictured: Bud Westerman</mods:abstract>
