3 Your favor of September 26th sesciveds I am sorry that
it would not be possible to offer you a guarantee of $150.00. I would
kindly call your attention to the fact that five years ago the Univer=
sity of Kansas played at Marrensburg for a guarantee of $100.00. Te
had won four or five championships in the Big Six, but we did not con-
sider our prestige in the mitter. We went dow to Warrensburg and played
the game because it was an early season game; we went for the good that
both of us could get out of ite I think we Aigured up the expenses of
driving over end coming back, and it came té6 a little less than *100.00
so we just agreed with Tad Reid that we would play for that amounts

Im this game on December Srd we would admit all the high
school players and coaches who would come in for the clinic Saturday
afternoon. It was my notion that we would not have much of a gates So

for this early season game, but I remembered a few years ago when Tad
Reid came over here when the athletic shake-up was on, and he mde a
statement to the committee that we played every team imKansas but
would not accommodate him by playing his teame Of course, he had for-=
gotten that just three years previously we had done this very thing,
and only for a kindly accormodation.

I remember years back when the University*of Kansas
offered me a football game and a basketball game, I told then we would |

We have a great number of gemes rather definitely sched-
