July 18, 1939 Dr. Phog Allen University of Kansas Lawrence, Kansas Dear Phog: Referring to our conversation at the National Basketball Tournament in Denver last winter, regarding the possibility of my getting to call some games for you this winter. I realize it is awfully early to be thinking of basket- ball, but on the other hand I didn't want you to forget that I was still mighty interested in breaking into the Big Six Conference as an orficial. I certainly will appreciate anything you can do for me. I saw Ebling the other day for the first time in about two months, as he has been in Illinois, and as usual we got into an argument over our ball games of '34 and '35. It seems that he has the edge over me as you won most of those contests. Fred Pralle has his nose to the grindstone and seemingly enjoys his work. He and Billi Martin, who is now working for Phillips, get into it over some of their games every once in a while. I hope they get along playing together as well as Ray and I did. Hoping to hear from you at your most opportune time, I remain Sincerely yours, Bud Browning é Phillips Petroleum Co. Bartlesville, Oklahoma
