My face is growing redder every moment. I
had your book lying on my desk ready to autograph
it. As a matter of fact I was considering what
I should write in the book. Carelessly I laid the
book down on top of material which was to be mailed.
Mrs. Bale, my secretary, of course assumed that this
book was to be returned to you and that is the reason
why you have the book but no autograph.

Will you please send it back immediately and
I will guarantee to try to erase my gradually growing
reputation of absentmindedness.
