KANSAS STATE COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE AND APPLIED SCIENCE MANHATTAN DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND ATHLETICS September 15, 1944 Dr. Forrest C. Allen Director of Physical Education, Varsity Basketball Coach University of Kansas Lawrence, Kansas Dear Phogs Congratulations on your becoming a member of the hole-in-one club. A friend of mine who was talking to Mr. Jones who was a member of your foursome brings me the information that your tee shot was straight and true and from the moment the ball left your club-head there never was any doubt about where it was going to land. There is a wonderful feeling in making a hole-in-one, especially the first time, but after you have made several one becomes blase and takes the event as a matter of course. I can speak rather intelligently on this subject as I have made several holesin-one's. The fact is that it has happened to me twicee Here's hoping that it will not be too long before you make your second hole-in-one but that the next time you will hook your tee shot instead of slicing ite Now to change the subject and get a word or two in about basketball. We do have the 15th and 16th of Dec. open and we would like to play again in Convention Hall. We are reluctant to enter the Oklahoma City Tournament because we are not certain it would be permissible with our present Big Six rules. I read in the paper that you had a very fine banquet for Mr. Quigley a short time ago and that Quig paid you a very fine compliment. May I add that I think it was a much deserved comp limente Very cordially yours, Me Fe Ahearn, Director ' MFA*b
