that is o.k. with me. .

How, I have something else. Van Reen, down at Columbia, told Dean
Corder that he had to stand still when he bassed the ball in from out of
‘bounds. ‘The rule is, of course, the ball has to be passed in from_out of
pounds three feet from the spot that it goes out. That meana there is a
six foot lane, three feet on either side, and the ball could be passed in
from anywhere in that area. There is nothing to restrain that player who
passes the bali in, from shooting or moving around in that six foot area,
the line six or eight feet back from the sideline.

tell one of my players he has to stand still. Yan Reen and Lance worked
a good game, but Mr. Van Reen is off on this point, and I wish that you
would write him, if I am correct in my premise. I tell the boys always
to tell me when anything like that comes up so that we can correct it.
I said nothing to Van Reen, but I did want Van Reen to know that we ob-
jected to his deoision and we are attempting to have it corrected.

Now, in regard to these signals. We are printing them in ow program
and of course we would want the officials to use them in the game. 1
presume that you have instructed all officials to follow the signals as
outlined by youe We are seeing that the scorer gets them and that every-.
one in the audience is fully appraised of the signals so that they may

I am passing on your letter to Earl ice be that he will be
‘appraised of the expense maney and also note the personnel of who will
work the games.

I knew the professional promoters would get singed on this bake
ball venture. I am also glad to know that Joe Jacobson has some money |
because the Lord knows the teams will need it. They weren't professional
promoters either, but they lost some money.
