September 30, 1944. Mr. Everett F. Shelton, Basketball Coach, University of Wyoming, Laramis, Wyoming. Dear Ev: When we were in Kansas City at the Big Six meeting Bruce Drake and I agreed that we would try to arrange a foursome for December 16th, Bruce has @ game scheduled with the Iowa Seahmwks on the 16th, and we were looking for an opponent for Kansas on the same night. _ I have written Bruce along the lines of asking ‘him to consider the 16th and 16th, and I am writing you asking if you would be agreeable to coming to Kansas City for both nights. Bruce doesn't want to play any of the Big Six teams before the season opens and for that reason he is shying off of a fow'some for the 15th and 16th, but we do want to play ball with him and go along and schedule the 16th date. Could you come to Kansas City on December 16th if we could not arrenge for a foursome for the 15th and 16%h? Tt am wondering what you would consider fair for your cuarantee with an option. Since you are traveling or Bast you will wderstand that we are not trying to talk you out of anything, but the other teams competing Will be making the trip just to the gemes in Kansas City and return. Pere — haps you may want the same situation:to obtain as the other teams, namely that our expenses to and from the place are counted in the estimate and the gate receipts are out fou ways equally. But in that case there is no guarantee to any team. In the adjustment of expenses the pro rata traveling mileage is figured, and the hotel is figured for all at ao much per day, and then after the hall rental and officials' fees are taken out, the out is four ways. Would you let me hear from you regarding your desires? Very sincerely yours, Director of Physical Education, FCA: AH Varsity Basketball Coach.
