THE UNIVERSITY OF WYOMING LARAMIE , WYOMING Aagust 21, 1944 Mr. Phog Allen Basketball Coach University of Kansas Lawrence, Kansas Dear Phog: I have been corresponding with George Edwards of Missouri about playing on a double-header in Kansas City, on August 12th he wrote me from Kansas City giving me the possiblity of two dates, Dec. 15 and 16, and Dec. 22 and 23, The 22 and 23 would of been just right as we are on our way east at that time but I hada game scheduled with Michigan for the 23 and could not change: the date, we wanted to keep the game as we have been some time trying to get on the Big Ten schedule. George thought that the 15 and 16th would be too early to draw any kind of a crowd. There will only be five of our school in our sonference playing basketball so we are going to wait untill Oct. 7th to make out basket- ball schedule so if we can schedule any out side games we are to go ahead. I would like very much to come to Kansas City and take part in a double-header and we could do it any time after January 8th, just so we can decide on dates before our conference meeting, Jack Gopelend of the Wichita Beacon wants us to come in there and play and we could play both places onthe same trip. If you and George have an open date and can get the hall later we would like tery much to come to Kansas City to play on the same arrangements of Kansas, Kansas State, Washburn and Missouri had last year. Are you going to New York this year? We are playing in New York City on December 27th and Philadelphia Jan. 1st and Ohio on the way home. Iwent to tell you that John Buescher is one of the best boys I have ever had the pleasure to coach and he thinks the world of you. I am very sorry we could not come down the 22nd ahd 23rd of Dec. but if jyou can find any two dates later on, I expect the crowds would be better anyway, don't you think. Very trul ours o? Evefett F.
