Dear Dr. Allen:-

I will be able to meet either the llth. or
18th. of Sept. to draw up our basketball schedule.

Off the record Dr. here is the way I feel
about the double round robin deal playing two games at each
place. If it's for those extra games I'm in favor, but with
the rules as they are and because of your central location
woulden't it be better for the both of us to go afead and play
as before and then schedule games that we thought we could make
both. ends. As it is I must make basketball pay for itself this
season, and I'm not sure whether or not we wovlden't go in the
red on most of these games with the exception of yours and possibly
Missouri.e With Iowa State so far off and the seating capacity so
small there isn't mueh of a chance for us to make any money, but on
the other hand when they come to Lawrence and Norman there is a chance
for them to make on the games. In other words we will never be able
to do any good on these game unless we would be able to swap ball
games letting both teams payitheir own expenses. The same thing is
true at Kansas State. If they happen to come along with a good ball
team then when they come to Norman they might make some money, but

could never pay us for coming there with the exception of the guarentee.

I think I'm right in saying that we can now play where we want to.

We could play you in K. ©. and you could play in 0. C. and nothing

would be said. I don't think anything would prohibit: us from such
games this year. I know the directors would never be in favor of

such a swap out such as they have in the Missouri Valley, but with
Missouri, Neb. Kansas and Oklahoma with large field houses, I see

no reason why we coulden't run this thru.

We will all be hampered this year with the inability
to do as much travéling as usual, Navy and railroads etc. so I'm
asking our director to bring up the question of playing A. A. U. teams
for the duration. Phillips 66 is about as close to: you as it is to
us, and with the rules as they are during this war, I see no dangers
of these teams attempting to steal any boys that might be 17 years
old. In other words Dr. I'm looking for games other than those with

_ service teams, and the Good Lord knows I'll have plenty of those,
that I have a chance to make a little more than the A. A. U. pays
'. for their top notch attractions. (Did make about $500.00 clear in
