1OWA STATE COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE AND MECHANIC ARTS AMES, IOWA August 30, 1943. DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION FOR MEN / Dre Ff. G. Allen, Basketball Coach, University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas. Dear Doc: I have been away from the office during the month of August and just got the accumulation of mail Saturday. This morning I duscussed with Veenk the possibilities of a basketball meeting this week end. He said the directors are polling the conference now about either a meetings of the directors or the basketball coaches or both. Itelative to your question about playing two games at each place, I believe that will be out of the question because of the 48hr. limit put on all Navy trainees. [I am pretty sure we cannot get around thay rule as the Pre Flight at Iowa City has had to observeafor their baseball team. Here are the possibilities as I see it, a round robin playing only one game on a trip, or disresarding a Big 6 championship and playing a limited number of conference games, filling in with teams intthe near vicinity of our respective schools. My team will be made up almost entirely of V-12 boys. Our athletic council is having a siete * ae sees part of this week to aaeuee among other things the above matters. I will write as soon as I learn anything. Best wishes to you and yours. fos Sihcerély, ese ge oo. asketball Coach
