Therefore, students desiring graduate credit for summer work must enroll with the dean of the Graduate School, and graduates of institutions other than the University of Kansas must present a complete official transcript of their college records to the dean of the Graduate School. It is highly important that this transcript be sent to the dean one month or more in advance of enrollment. Students who neglect to furnish evidence that they are eligible for admis- sion to the Graduate School will be enrolled only provisionally, and graduate credit for part or all of their work will be forfeited if it appears subsequently that they are not eligible for unconditional admission. EXPENSES FEES * MartricuLaTION Fes. Every person when he first presents himself for ad- mission to the University is required to pay a matriculation fee. This fee is payable only once. For residents of Kansas the fee is $10, for nonresidents it is $20. DEFINITION or ReswENce. The residence of persons entering any of the state institutions of higher education is determined by an act of the legislature (L. 1938, sp. sess., ch. 70), which reads as follows: “Persons entering the state educational institutions who if adults have not been, or if minors, whose parents have not been residents of the state of Kansas for six months prior to matriculation in the state educational institutions, are nonresidents for the purpose of the pay- ment of matriculation and incidental fees: Provided further, That no person shall be deemed to have gained a residence in this state for the aforesaid purpose while or during the elapse of time attending such institution as a student, nor while a student of any seminary of learning, unless, in the case of a minor, his parents shall have become actual residents in good faith of the state of Kansas during such period, or unless, in the case of a minor, he has lived with or been supported by his parents or either of them for three years or more prior to enrollment and during said years has been a resident in good faith of the state of Kansas.” INcwENTAL Fez.
