A study of the instruments comprising the string section of the orchestra, such as the violin, viola, violoncello, and contrabass, including practical experience in play- ing these instruments both in their individual and ensemble capacities. The principles governing correct methods of fingering, bowing, and phrasing are presented in class. While a general knowledge of the different instruments is the principal objective, each student is encouraged to acquire some pro- ficiency on at least one instrument of this section. Rental fee, $6. A study of the instruments comprising the woodwind section of the orchestra, £1f fewer than eight persons enroll in 6, 6a, 25 or 25a, the course will be offered on the private lesson fee basis, the students dividing the cost. The total cost will be $16 for a one- hour course, or $32 for a two-hour course.
