ule last night, but Iowa
State kept the team pull-
ing to eke out a 55-52
semifinal victory over
Colorado and advance to
the finals of the Big
Seven pre-season basket-

ball tournament.

Colorado half-court press and
win.

The Buffs Catch Fire.

Colorado came from eleven
points back in a roaring rally
which came within a point of
catching the Cyclones, rated a
favorite to win this tournament.
The final ten minutes of the
game were tense and the issue
wasn’t settled until the horn
blew the end of the game.

The half-court press used by

the Buffaloes, conference cham-
pions last year, worked on the
Cyclones, The Iowans were kept
outside. most of the time and
they were unable to get the
close-in shots they needed to
keep command.
_ Leading by five points at the
half, Iowa State made its move
as the second half got started.
In five minutes the Cyclones had
generated an 11-point lead, the
largest of the game, when John
Crawford drove in to make it
37-26. Iowa State enjoyed an-
other 11-point advantage, 39-28,
before Colorado came roaring
down the stretch.
