I was pleased to hear from you and wish to assure you that I really do want to attend Kansas University this fall to do my graduate work. The positiow you are trying to work out for me sounds good and I certainly appreciate your efforts and interest in me. I had a nice visit with Mr. Henry while in Lawrence, but he could not give me much encouragement at that time other than that he would like to help me. I believe he feels the responsibility of giving first consideration to boys who have completed competition at K. U. but have not graduated. He did tell me, however, that he would keep me in mind and give me every consideration. I am sorry the money angle has to be considered so closely, but recent expenditures in our faihily have made it impossible for us to save enough to see us through without some work to aid us finan- cially. I believe if we could earn $1,000 we could get by. I have done some officiating in the past, and am sure that if I could get started there in eastern Kansas, I could pick up quite a bit.
