Dear Superintendent Welch:

It was most generous of you and your col | to include
the extra stipend, for which I am duly thankful. » I had
some bad Juck by getting some water in my gasoline, and when I
‘went on through and past Eaporla I had to eall for some assistance
‘from the Buick people. I managed to limp home, and then took the
car down vo the garage and had it fixed up, so I am on my way to
Kensas City, Kansas, for another trek.

I stayed at MoPherson, got four hours sleep and felt refreshed
enough to come on in to Lawrence in the very lovely morning sun.

Again thanking you, and assuring you that I enjoyed meeting
so many of your fellow townsmen and good friends, Tam
