Allen, Coach Kansas University Lawrence, Kansas My dear Dr. Allen: Would you be available for an address before a men's group, at the Countryside Christian Church, Mission, on Wednesday evening, March 15? Our Church is young, but progressive. It is located here in a fine residential area, just west of the Plaza, and about a mile east of the Shawnee-Mission High School. Most of our membership are college graduates. You may remember Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Prosser, who played tennis at K. U.. They are regular attendants, and there are other Kk. U. graduates. If you can come, we will invite as special guests the Shawnee- Mission High School basket ball team, and the grade teams of three nearby schools. I'm sure they would all be pleased to meet and hear you, and our men would be greatly pleased. We offer no honorarium save expenses. Mrs. Large and I heard you at Emporia early in December, last, just before assuming the work here. You spoke at a large gathering of Emporians at the Broadview Hotel. We told you at the time that we hoped to see your team play in Kansas City sometime. That pleasure is yet in the future - but we still look forward to it. It will please us greatly if you can come. I know you are a busy man, and that it is asking a preat deal of you. But we want youe Please let me know. With every good wish, and with kindest personal regards, Iam Yours very truly, _ February 22, 1944 P. S. If it would help you, we Sa : could make adjustment in the date...
