CEDAR Raprips, lowA March 11, 1944 Dr. Forest C. Allen | Director of Physical Education University of Kansas” Lawrence, Kansas Dear Dr. Allen: I am a little late in acknowledging your telegram advising that you could be here for our all-sports dinner on April 16, but we are definitely going ahead on that date. We appreciate your willingness to change your plans to meet our situation, and in view of the change of date, I am sure we will have an unusual meeting, as the Young Men's Bureau of the Cedar Rapids Chamber of Commerce when they found out you were to be the speaker for our Ginner, even though it is on a regular meeting night of the group, asked to cooperate with us on the dinner, and they have guaranteed one hundred reservations. For that reason we are moving over to the auditorium of the Chamber of Commerce building, which has a larger seating capacity than our YMCA-gym, and we anticipate an attendance of approximately four hundred. I am enclosing the first publicity we have had on your talk to date which is merely an announcement of the event. In this Sunday's paper we expect to have a further announcement of the committee heads, etc., and about a week from Sunday we expect to start our barrage of publicity. When it is convenient for you to do so, kindly let me know by what route you have decided to come and when you will arrive. Also Let me know when you would like to start back for Lawrence. With kindest personal regards, and looking forward to a nice visit with you about a month from now, I remain Sincerely, D.G.Lsett HG
