Dear Doc:

This will acknowledge your letter of the 17th, and your
plan to buy a roundtrip ticket over the Rock Island to Iowa City
is the best setup. That way, they will hold the train in Des
Moines for you and you will arrive in Cedar Rapnids on the inter-
urban at 10:10 A.M.

Going back, we can arrange for you to take the 10:50 P.M.
Rock Island to Columbus Junction, transfer there and catch the
Rock Island to Kansas City. These trains are running on schedule,
and although you will have an hour and fifteen minutes wait at
Columbus Junction, it will permit you to reach Kansas City at 8:30
Friday morning and, I imagine, you can be home by 11:00. When you
leave Cedar Rapids it will be necessary to buy a fare on the Rock
Island from Cedar Rapids to Iowa City, but your roundtrip ticket
will take care of you the rest of the way.
