I am sending you some of the speaking dates for the past year.
I realize that the state does not provide a,y traveling ex-
penses for such trips. Many times I have been asked to eoeek
and in each case where it has seemed wise and expedient I
have informed the inquirer that bare traveling expenses would
be necessary. Sometimes I have not done this because it would
have presented a very awkward situation. If I thought it was
an athletic responsibility I would take it up with the
authorities before making the trip. However, sometimes it
has been necessary for me to bear the expenses of such an
occasion beca,se I was not in a position to ask anyone to
assume the responsibility. I have been happy to do these

things because many friends of the University feel they have

a right to call on their faculty for these services.
