Dear Al:

Pardon my failure to acknowledge receipt of your
letter written quite some time ago. I have checked the
mileage and find it is about 150 miles from Lawrence to Peru.
That is S00 miles round trip, and with, gasoline rationing,
tires, and upkeep of automobile that item would mm into
quite a sum when you figure hotel and meals. Tt does not
leave mich for an honorarium.

I trust that your athletic board will allow something
for travel because other institutions and schools do. Would
