Dear Dr. Allen:

The Third War Loan Drive opens Thursday, September 9.
Douglas County's quota is $2,075,000 as against a quota of
$800,000 in April. You can readily see that, if we are to
reach our goal, a much greater effort must be made on the
part of every Douglas County e¢itizen.

At the request of Irving Hill, I have accepted the job
of heading the "Special-Names" Committee for Lawrence during
the Drive, and I certainly need your help as a member. of this
Committee. The "Special-Names" canvass will be "Tailor made"
in the sense that it will be based on definite lists: of
prospective investors already prepared.

In order: that. our @roup may lead off in this drive,
T am calling the entire Committee together for our first
meeting Wednesday morning, September 8, at ten o'clock, at
the Chamber of Commerce. Prospect cards, with suggested
quotas, willl be selécted at that time.

I trust you will be on hand next Wednesday morning,
ready to takkle our part of the job,
