Dear Dr. Allen:

| I have your letter of May 20th concern-
ing the rank of Mr, Allphin. Section III of the
catalog carries the rank of each member of the
staff for the current academic year. Since Mr.
Allphin has carried the rank of instructor this
year he should be so listed in the catalog.
Recommendations for promotion custom- —
arily are made to the budget committee at the
time of the regular departmental conferences.
If you desire to recommend a promotion in the
rank of Mr. Allphin I suggest that you take up
the matter with Dean Stouffer at an early date.
