WILLIAM CHRISMAN HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT INDEPENDENCE, MISSOURI RAY F. FRENCH Ath. Dir. and Coach CARL D. GUM Principal November 2Q, 1944 Dr. Forest €. Alien ; Kansas University Lawrence, Kansas. Dear Dr. Allen, This is just to confirm our telephone conversation and to say that we will be expecting you at the L.D.S. Auditorium the night of December 6th, at 7 p.m. I want to thank you again for the interest you have shown. We'll be looking forward to your talk. Respectfully, Rats Se November 16, 1944. Mr. Ray FP. French, Athletic Director and Coach, William Chrisman High School, Independence, Missouri. Dear Ray: We are playing Washburn University at Topeka, Kansas, on December 4th, and are playing them back here on the Sth, then playing Rockhurst in Kansas City on the 12th. The only way, Ray, that I could come would be by driving that big Buick automobile, and I could not make it for a penny less than six cents a mile. I would say the least f could make the trip to Independence for would be $10.00. And too, Ray, I wouldn't like to reneg on you but I am just afraid that I would be neglecting my basketball team if I left them at the present time. nog What time would your banquet be? If it would be at 6 o'clock I just simply couldn't make it, but if it were at 7 I could have an early practice and get away perhaps. I . know you will appreciate the coach's situation. With ali good wishes, I an Sincerely yours, | Director of Physical Education, PCA AH Varsity Basketball Coach. eh Set agile Aha aa! Allen: We want you to know that we sincerely appreciate the time and effort that you are taking in coming to Wichita in our celebration of our fathers and sons programs on Tuesday, November 2l. On that particular night we have a consentrated effort for the getting together of fathers and sons and we are having 18 dif- ferent banquets in the city and the housing areas. All of these banquets will have large gatherings. From 7:15 to 7:50 on the evening of the 2lst we will have a 15 minute radio broadcast, originating out of station KANS that will go to all of the banquets. After which they will begin their individual programs which will include entertainment, toasts, and talks on father and son relations. At this writing I am not at the liberty to tell you the exact spot where you will speak. A committee will designate the spots for the key speakers, such as yourself, a few days preceding the banquet. As you know, we will cover the cost of transportation and your expenses while you are in Wichita but I would appreciate your arranging your own transportation to meet your convenience and please advise me so that we can make proper hotel arrangements as to your arrival and departure. Also, would you please forward to me pictures or mats for two papers that we can use in our publicity purposes for the occasion. We are anxiously looking forward to seeing you in Wichita.
