‘File No. ‘NAVY SUPPLY CORPS SCHOOL HARVARD UNIVERSITY SOLDIERS FIELD, BOSTON, MASS. a We have been having some beautiful fall weather back here; the nice days make me long for the golf course and bring back pleasant memories of the past -- I trust that a renewal of the same is not too far in the future. Last Sunday I went out to the Winchester Country Club with another boy for the day; I did not play, but I went around the 18 holes with him. It is a beautiful course and I enjoyed the day so mch; Jug MeSpaden used to becthe "pro" at the course. If this coming Sunday is a nice day I believe that I will try to play; my religious beliefs have barred me from playing golf on Sundays in the past, but under the present circumstances I look at the sit- uation in a different light -- it does one so much good to get away from this life and the city even though for such a short time. I haven't played any golf for over two years so you can imagine how poor my score will be, but the score is so immaterial. Well, Doc this is about all for this time. I do appreciate your continued interest and I will keep you posted as to my whereabouts. I look forward to a visit,,+ in Lawrence during the coming winter or early spring as I go on to new duty, but I do plan on it too mech as one is always disappointed if he does. Best of luck to you A with your coming fall program; how I wish that I was capable and able to assist you, but we will play a few rounds of golf one of these days -- i.e. providing you will play with a "dub" like myself -~ I understand from the paper that your game is FOOLY "tops" this season. I remain, co William H. Shannon
