Gentlemens:

We have the above numbered application, requesting
authority to begin the construction of two tennis courts and
priority assistance to secure the encessary critical materials,

We deeply appreciate the necessity of providing suit-
able recreational facilities for trainees of the Army and Navy,
but in view of the present critical situation prevailing with re-
spect to steel products, we do not feel warranted in granting
approval of this type of project. It is possible that other
types of construction not involving the use of eritical material
could be used to provide reasonably suitable facilities of this
kind.

Accordingly the subject application is denied.
