Anderson 252 North 8th Street | Salina, Kansas Dear Mr. Andersons I have tried in every conceivable way to get Gene in the Navye I worked with the recruiting board in Kansas City, Kansas, Topeka, Kansas, and then called the Navy Medical Bxaminer in Kansas City, Missouri, Dr. Gardner, He tells me that it is absolutely in- possible at the present time to get a man six feet six inches tall . into the Navy. I have advised with Gene. on ieineet | sbesstans since I talkeec with you, I told him that Dr. Gardner told me that he has served both in the Army and in the Navy and that in peace times the Army is the best go and in war times the Navy is the best in which to serves : I have talked to our Séhective Service Board and while Gene was here they had received no call for induction, but after Gene left this morning, I received a call from our secretary of the Selective Service Board and she tells me that she now has just received a call . for induction from Topeka for March 8. Sovhile Gene will not receive a notice of this for several days, as they do not notify them until ten. days prior to induction, there is a call now set + for March 8.
