March 25, 1941 Supte Je Be Cale Gaylord Public Schoois Dear Supb, Coles i an leaving thie morning for Chase, Kansas Community High School where I speak tonight, and tomorrow night at MoPhersons I have classes until 12:50 on Tuesdays end Thursdays and then I leave after class and drive out to the schools where I am to speaks I am alse coaching baseball and i find that my speaking dates interfere much with cvaching the diamond sport, but I also realize that I have some obligation to the basketball players and coaches, so i am torn between two desires, The State does not provide traveling expenses for us and sinee i drive my own Buick “Readeaster” 1 find that I cannot travel for less than 5¢ per mile each ways i have never mde a charge to any school for any athletic speaking date, and I eannot travel by train sinos J have to teach classes during the daye Therefore, if you are willing to pay for my Qutomcbile travel expense at 5¢ per mile each way I will be glad to Gome on April 15.
