MARSHALLTOWN SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL AND JUNIOR COLLEGE B. R. MILLER, PRINCIPAL MARY OWEN, SECRETARY MARSHALLTOWN, IOWA November 17, 1941 Dr..7. Ge Aives Basketball Coach University of Kansas Lawrence, Kansas Dear Dr. Allen: I note by yesterday's Des Moines Register that you are to speak at a football banquet on Monday evening, November 2h, in Knoxville, Iowa. I am writing this letter to give you a special invitation to speak before an assembly of our high school and junior college students on Tuesday morning, November 25. If you can come on Tuesday, November 25, we will make the assembly our annual football assembly when the letters are awarded to the members of the team. In other words, you would be the principal speaker for our annual football assembly program. We would be willing to pay you a flat fee of 515 and take care of your hotel bill in Marshalltown on Monday night, November 24. The assembly program at the high school would be held at Seignt forty-five o'clock on Tuesday morning, November 25. Now, there are other possibilities in case your schedule will permit you to come to Marshalltown. We can have the assembly program on Monday morning, November 24, if that would suit you better. Another possibility is that some of the service clubs may be able to invite you to speak to them on Monday noon or Tuesday noon, whichever day you would be here. In other words, we might be in a position to offer you a more attractive program than just the high school speech alone. I mention all these possibilities in case you wish to consider them when you write me. I will be glad to hear from you at your earliest convenience. With best wishes, I am Sincerely yours, SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL Cet AE BRM'mlo Principal
