See er CHAIRMAN CLEVELAND E.DODGE CHAIRMAN CHICAGO OFFICE ROOM 1014 19 SO. LASALLE STREET December 30, 1941 Dear Dr Allen: As President of the Alwmi Association in Chicago, I am concerned that we have this year the best amual meeting of the Jayhewkers in the history of our club. Last year we postponed our meeting until late in the spring and hed a small turnout. We had an excellent address, however, from Dr Schwegler. At that meeting we went on record to put new life into the organization and to have a first class program well prepared in advance for 1942. I have just learned through your daughter that you will be here with the basketball team on Jenuary 31. Can you not come twenty-four hours earlier and be our guest speaker at our annual meeting on the evening of January 307 I note from your schedule in the Alumni Magazine that you are to be in Iowa City on the 29th and Chicago on the Slst. We have a telephone squad organized, issued a bulletin a few weeks ago, and will issue another promoting this meeting, and I can assure you there will be a minimm of one hundred guests at the party. Betty Ruth Smith is chairman of the social committee in charge of music, decorations, reception of members, and as you know is an experienced person. She has enlisted the cooperation of your daughter on the comnittee. We will promote both the dimner on the 30th and a big turnout for the game on the 3lst. It would be a fine combination. Won't you let me know by return mail whether you can accept our invitation? I do hope you cane Sincerely yours, Petes Harry C He Dr Phog Allen University of Kansas Lawrence, Kansas
