I have been well acquainted with Marvin Vandaveer sinse 1938 when he entered the University as a freshman. : : ; He was an outstanding athlete, being highly proficient in football, basketball and baseball. He played three years as : quarterback on the varsity football team with outstanding success. He was also on the varsity baseball and basketball teams. This gave him an excellent background for his work in physical education. He graduated with a B. 3. degree in Biusation with a mjor in physical education, in June 1942. Immediately upon graduation from the University he was appointed coach of all sports and dir- ector of physical education at Haskell Institute. He also served as trainer of all athletic teams.
