JOHN B. VANWHY, DIRECTOR WITTENBERG, COLLEGE, FOUNDED IN 1845 SPRINGFIELD, OHIO DEPT. OF HEALTH AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND INTERCOLLEGIATE ATHLETICS January 21, 1939 Dr. Forrest C. Allen Director of Health and Physical Education University of Kansas Lawrence, Kanaas Dear "Phog": The weather in Springfield today makes me wish that I were in Atlanta with you warching Georgia Tech play base- ball. Last spring in Atlanta I talked with you about the possibility of teaching in your 1939 summer session at which time you advised me to write you in January. I have taught at Wittenberg for the past two summers and will teach here again this year unless some other opp- ortunity should present itself. I am of the opinion that an individual is stimulated by making new acquaintances, especially in his fietd, and by being placed in new sit- uations. I am therefore particularly qnxious to teach at some college other than Wittenberg this coming Summer. | All I know is what I read in the papers, however they say that Kansas has a good basketball team again this year at which I am not surprised. With kindest personal regards, I remain Very sincerely yours, John B. Van Why, Director JBVWsP
