Dear Dr. Allen:

I have your letter of June 27th with refer-
ence to basketball and baseball. IE am sorry we
will be unable to play the basketball game but
hope you will keep us in mind for future con-
tests.

As to the baseball the team we have here
is of the hard ball variety. Now while we would
be more than happy just to play a game of soft
ball as a social meet, the players on this hard
ball team are not good enough men socially to
make such a trip a success. Further I should
hesitate to ask for anything from government
funds as I understand the state of Kansas has
already got more than their share of government
funds, so I guess we had better call the whole
thing off.
