MCANANY, ALDEN & VAN CLEAVE ATTORNEYS AT LAW 604 COMMERCIAL BUILDING KANSAS CITY, KANSAS EDWIN S.MCANANY THOS.M. VAN CLEAVE WILLARD L.PHILLIPS BERNHARD W.ALOEN DREXEL 3838 January 19, 1938 Personal Dr. Forrest C. Allen, University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas. Dear Phog: Thanks for your letter of January 14. I was very much surprised to hear what you had to say about Frosty Cox. You would think that he would appreciate all you have done for him. However, apparently he is one of the persons who have no gratitude for help which has been given him. I have know of other people who have had the same attitude. I appreciate your enclosing the clippings from the Journal World. I think it was unfortunate that the Athletic Board did not determine the matter of the coaches before the Board of Regents met. I do not know that anyone is especially to blame for the board's not having done so. As you know, we met in December to do this, but the meeting was called on a day Gwinn Henry had to leave for Chicago, and why it was called at such time I have no idea, nor do I know why the matter was not taken up at the next meeting because I was unable to attend it. . Karl Klooz advised me there #ould be a meeting Friday afternoon at two o'clock. At this time I am not certain whether T can attend. Anyhow, as I told Karl over the ‘phone, it seems to me that there is not much use in attending as the Board of Regents has made a decision for us. Sincerely yours, TMV:SS
