SUMMARY OF TRACK SEASON - 1944 The experience of track coaches throughout the nation this season has been one of changing personnel. Senene has been no exception, Of 93 men who have reported for track during the season, only 38 remained to finash the season. A number of these boys were Navy Vel2 Sratenes who were transferred to other units. Several civilian boys were called into service by Uncle Sam. | The outdoor track schedule included two dual, one triangular, one relay carnival, and the Big Six Outdoor Championship Meet. In the dual meets Kansas was defeated by the University of Oklahoma at Norman by a score of 70 to 60, and by Iowa State at Ames by a score of 913 to 39%. In a triangular meet with Nebraska and Kansas State at Lawrence, Kansas won with 85 points to 87 for Nebraska and 12 for Kansas State. In the Drake Relays at Des Moines, Kansas placed the following men: Robert Lillibridge, 2nd in the broad jump; Frank stennard, Srd in the 120 yard high hurdles; Tom Scofield, Srd in the high jump; Jim Richey, 3rd in the 440 yard rum; Leroy Robison, 3rd in the javelin throw; and a mile relay composed of Lynn Leigh, Robert Lillibridge, Frenk Stannard and Jim Richey placed fifth. The Big Six Outdoor Championship was won by Iowa State with 67 points, Kansas was second with 56% points.
