Dear Dector and Mrs. Trump:

I regret exceedingly that Mrs. Allen end I were not able to attend
your lovely reseption last evening. ‘The invitation did not arrive at
the University until about noon Monday. Our Rotary Club meets at the
Eldridge Hotel on Monday noon, and I did not get to see Mre. Allen >
‘ unti2 late in the afternoon. However, both she and I had previous en-
gagements.

I was on the faqulty committee for Sachem which met with the student
Sachem members to pick the Sachem members for this year. We met at
7:50 last evening. Mrs. Allen had an appointment with our young grand-
child which she has had the past five months. Jane and her husband,

Lt. Elwood Mons, Navy flier, are out on the west coast. Jane's husband
had been ordered west end Jeane went out to spend the last two weeks of
his leave on the coast, and Mrs. Allen has been nurturing the youngster.
And what a busy time that grandmother is having! We say Jane will not

_ kmow her own child when she sees her again.

Lt. (i 4) Milton Allen is stationed at Canbridge. We flew home last
week Since he has a new assignment there for four months, Isabelle
end their youngster, Judy, moved into our house yesterday. They are
renting their place, as Isabelle is going east to be with Milton in
another week or so. I go into this detail in ow regret to assure you
that if we had been half free, Mrs. Allen and I wuld have been delighted
to have accepted you very kind invitation.

We send Bob ow Jayhawk Rebounds which we get out monthly. dust so
that you may get a semple of the eye fatigue we subject our service boys
to, we are enclosing a copy along with this letter. A couple of months
ago I heard from your Bob. He was then at 112 Pinckney St. Apt. 3, Boston,
Mass. Milton is located at War Adjustment Class, Administration Building,
Soldiers Field, Harvard University. I am dropping Mit a note giving him
Bob's address and also informing Bob as to Milton's whereabouts, but I
imagine both are quite busy.But they might have a chance to say hello.
