I am always glad to know just what is going on even though sometimes I can not publish all I know. I was positive when I first started reading the letter that Fred Winter was not guilty of the charge made by Charles Moffett for he does not talk that way and is a high class fellow all around, but Knox is also a very fine fellow but of course his professional baseball contacts probably have made his talk a little r , al= though I have never noticed that tt—has. x Again thanking you and with kindest rdgards, I am, Sincerely, re Sec Tayloy, Sports Editor March 21, 1944. Yr. John H. Tucker, Barracks 10, Sunflower Ordnance Works, : Lawrence, Kansas. : _ Dear John: \ Thank you for your very good letter of some time ago calling attention to the possibility of erecting a fire- proof building which would be ample for a historical building as well as the American Legion and for other -soldier or veteran organizations. | Doubtless they will build a city hall building some time soon and all of this can be built under one roof. At any rate, I thank you for writing me. iI am just one of the Legion boys trying to work out something for all concerned, and I trust that we may have good luck in doing 80. TUCKER INSURANCE REAL ESTATE > : LOANS , Barracks 10, S.0.W., LAWRENCE, KANSAS Jan. 28th, 1944., De ¥. 0, Aiden, University of Kansas., Lawrence, Kansas., Dear Doctor Allen: I Teles whether or not this suggestion is of any merit but I t on to you for your consideration: Since Lawrence and Douglas County greatly need a historical building that would be fireppoof, why might it not be a@ good idea to build a fireppoof building that can serve both as a historical hall, and possibly also not only as a place of meeting for the American Legion but also for any other of soldier or veterans organizations. Very Sincerely Gh U Alauhn ohn H. Tucker. Maroh 9, 1944. Principal Frank 3, Toalson, Dodge City Senior High School, Dedge City, Kansas. Dear Principal Toalson: Are you plamning on building concrete tarvia or some other type of court? We have some specifications for re- inforsed concrete but have no other kind. Frankly, I would not know what to prescribe for courts in your section of the state, unless I would suggest the reinforced gonerete. They, of course, are alleweather courts and in the warmer climates they are lighting them electrically for play in the evening. In that way you can get full service from them and the maintenanse and upkeep is megligible. Of course, the initial expense is great but it is the proposition that we encounter when we con- sider highways -- conerete or sanded reads. Eventually the sanded roads eat up all the profit and you still have nothing but a sanded road. Sincersly yours, Direotor of *hysical Education, PCA:AH Varsity Basketball Coach.
