Dear Phog:
I want to thank you for your letter of April.12, and
the explanation you have made about the fifth district NCAA setup.

I do not believe that, at any time, have I ever accused
you, in my columns, of participating in any of the events to which
the Missouri Valley conference objects in connection with the
basketball setup, except that I have mentioned that you refused
to play Creighton last year at the end of the season on the
grounds that your team had defeated the Blue Jays and that there
was no reason why you should play again.

I am fully aware of the fact that you were the one
person. in the present Big Six who went to bat for the other schools
that were dropped quite a good many years ago.

I appreciate your letter and the carbon copies which
were enclosed, a was not necessary for you to defend yourself
as far as I was coneerned.
