Alien Director of Athletics The University of Kansas Lawrence, Kansas Dear Dr. Allen: Somehow the years have run by rather rapidly, and I did not realize, nor did I suspect, that you were approaching your 25th anniversary until the celebration was all over. I want to take this opportunity to extend my somewhat belated, but none the less sincere, best wishes for the next twenty-five years. From the amount of “pepper” you ex- hibited the last time I saw you I have no doubt but that twenty-five years more is a conservative estimate. I feel that I express the almost unanimous feelings of all the boys who have worked under and with you when I say that it has been a rare privilege to have known you and to have felt the upbuilding influence that you have exerted in sports and on the lives of all with whom you have come in contact. Your recent victory over A & M made all of us down here very happy. I had hoped to be in Kansas City to see the game tonight with Frosty, but it didn't work out, so my pulling for the boys will have to be by remote control. I hope you go through the tournament on top as usual, but win or lose what I have said still goes. Congratulations again on your anniversary and many happy returns. Sincerely,
