Dear Dr. Allen:

This is in response to your letter of May 2 saying that you will
be glad to see Joe Gulledge.

The expectation of getting you to come down here makes me definitely
favorable to your seeing him in Wichita. I should appreciate a
response to this if you think you might be able to come down here.

If such a visit appears to be too far distant, however, it might be
advisable to have Joe go to Lawrence. Both Mr. Schaefer and I are
looking forward to the possibility of your making the former arrange-
ment.

I know you will be interested to learn that Paul "Hook" Fisher is
the Kansas City Star's representative among a group of important
Eastern editors which is to visit our plant next weekend as a part
of a nationwide tour of war industries. Paul spent a couple of days
out here recently while covering a story and we had a lot of fun
recalling old times.

I am looking forward to the prospect of seeing you before long. Thank
you for your willingness to help us out in this situation.
