KANSAS STATE EMPLOYMENT SERVICE AFFILIATED WITH UNITED STATES EMPLOYMENT SERVICE $22 Ne Market Wichita, Kansas June 3, 1940 Dre F. Ce Allen Director Physical Education University of Kansas Lawrence, Kansas Dear Dr. Allen: I am writing you in regard to some arm trouble that one of the pitchers on our ball team is havinge The player's name is Rufus Meadows and he is one of the finest fellows I have ever had the pleasure of playing ball with. He seems to be having a great deal of difficulty with his arm. The main trouble seems to be when he throws a fast ball or a screw ball. He says it doesn't hurt at all when he throws a curve. He suspects that he may have a chipped bone in the elbow, which is the location of his trouble apparently, and had in mind having it operated on. I have advised him against that however, because I thought possibly you might be willing to look at his arm and if any- thing could be done for it, to fix it up for him or if you could not fix it, at least we would have some reliable advise upon which to proceed with the operation. Meadows works every day but Friday and Saturday in the Stearman Aircraft plant here but I am quite sure that he would be willing and able to come to Lawrence at any time that you might be willing to look him over. If you can and will do this Doc, please let us know when you want him to come and how long he should plan to stay. I shall appreciate anything that you are able to do for Meadows.ยป Respectfully yours, GJT sEVS Goaroieh re
