Dear Sir:

gust received word from the factory in regard to your Tan
oxfords that I returned due to the fact that the right shoe split in the
vamp. Following is what they wrote back to me in regard to your shoes.

The pair of S067 sixe 10A, belonging to Dr. Allen, is in
very bad condition and we beleive that the damage on the interior is .
traceable entirely to perspiration and body acids. When this is sufficient
to curl the insoles, as the result of actual burning, we can expect dis-
appointing results elsewhere. The vamp may have heen slightly defective,
although this is not evident and the tread may not of been entirely standard
but as stated, because of the present condition of the shoes, we do not
feel that a complaint could be clearly placed against them now. Younsay in
your letter that this is the second pair that have done this for him, and
that he is a booster for these shoes. Due to the fact that we beleive a
satisfied customer is more valuable than a dissatisfied one we are allowing
you to make an adjustment to Dr Allen of # price for his next pair shoes.

The above adjustment sounds very reasonable dosent it. So the.
next pair you buy doctor will be just half price. You told me when you werex.,
and left the above shoes that I could send you a pair white Buck oxfords
just as soon as they arrived. The white buck oxfords Doctor are $12.00 and
allowing you your adjustment on the tan shoes will make your white Buck
oxfords cost you just $6.00 is this 0.K. with you? I surely hope your new
tan shoes are 0.K. Thanks a lot for your past business. Yours t 7,
