KANSAS STATE COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE AND APPLIED SCIENCE MANHATTAN DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND ATHLETICS March 14, 1944 Dre Forrest C. Allen University of Kansas Lawrence, Kansas Dear Phog: First permit me to express my appreciation of the fine tribute you paid to our basketball coach, Cliff Rock. We certainly feel that he did an excellent job with the material at hand. Throughout the entire season, in spite of the chameleon changes in his starting lineup, he never lost his optomism and was exceedingly fine about not complaining. Your words of praise will be cherished by Coach Rock. Secondly, it is rumored that at the University of Kansas, colored students are permitted to use the swimming pool at the same time as it is being used by the white students. That problem has been a thorn in our side and only a few weeks ago it was brought to the attention of the authorities. If it is true that the Uni- versity is sponsoring such a program then we have no reason to handle the problem any differently than it is being handled in your department. Would certainly appreciate hearing from you at your earliest con- venience, With kind personal regards, I an, Sincerely yours ‘7 | eel 7. [eG 3 , } f Ve [he ; : | %M.F. Ahearn MPAslh a | Director
