MH Sa April 25, 1938 Dr. Forrest C. Allen Kansas University Lawrence, Kansas Dear Doctor Allen: Being connected with K.U. for many years I thought you might be able to give me a helpful suggestion in a problem at hand. My nephew, Clinton Zercher, Jr. is finishing his second year at Washburn College as a student in the School of Business Administration. He joined the Fraternity in his first year and everything was going lovely. In January of this year his Father's business went to the wall which necessitated his taking some odd jobs here to enable him to finish the present semester. He moved out of the Frat house and has been living with me. My personal idea is that K.U. should have a much stronger course in Business Administration than this small local college. Also it would be my idea that he would have a better chance to be ' placed after graduation if he came from the State University. Am I correct in this? Would there be any chance for him to find work in Lawrence? If so, should he come down this summer and line it up or wait just pefore the fall term opens? He took Typing and Short-hand three years ago but, no doubt, is rusty in it now as he has not used it. The boy is a good student and would be willing to work at anything he could, however, he is small in stature and does not have the physique to do heavy work such as carrying ice. He has done some work in the local library and received government pay. Will appreciate any helpful suggestions when time permits. Cordially, Mary Z2ercher, D.Q. MZ-eb iii ial tcc
