‘Mrse Melba Schilling Kost was an instructor of dance and
physical education classes in ow: department during the academic
year 1941-42.

I believe the best way to describe her personality and
abilities will be to follow the outline suggested in your letter.
Sensitivity to other people's reactions -= She is not particularly
sensitive to another person's reactions, and is rather selfish -
that respect.

Her capacity ithe self-expression is very good. ‘She is able
to tell people what she wants and they oan understand her easily.
Her capacity for assuming and discharging responsibility, I feel,
depends upon whether or not she is interested. If it is to her
particular interest she will de it; if not, she can’t be bothered.
I would not trust her too far with responsibility.

She has a very high degree of intelligence and hea good
initiative and resourcefulness. In her attitudes toward other
people she is not particularly sympathetic, and yet really rather
understanding, depending upon whether or not she likes a person.
She allows this to influence her attitude toward others. Shé is
not a mature person in many respects, and ie wetable emotionally.
She is a good organizer of her own work, but not of her own self.

i would recommend her for this type of a position with a
great deal of hesitancy.
