Direot YY of Athletics, Kansas State College, Menhattan, Kansas. Dear Michael: I read with great pleasure that the Board of Regents have extended your tenure for et least one year. You had told me that you were to retire as head of the department July 1st un- less there was some disposition made. However, the newspaper reports were twisted, but I still got the right idea. The paper said that the Board of Regents had made the extension of time for the employees where the deadlines was 65 yoars of age and the heads of departments at 70. That rather garbled account reminded me of the spaghetti- bender who had just come to America when he was explaining to — one of his American patrons in broken English how pleased he was with the unbounded success that he had obtained from his corner hot tamale stand, “If business is as good yesterday as it was tomorrow <- py jiminy”. | . do I got the proper implication that you are going to be with us not only this next year but we are hoping many more years. It has always been a pleasure to work with you. Very sincerely yours, Director of Physical Education, Varsity Basketball Coach.
