Dear Phogs I should like to be in a position to assume credit for getting Washburn into the Kansas City games, but frankly I cannot do that. The Athletic Board was in favor of the team's entrance and Dean Sellen was on his way to see the Commander at the time I contacted Dean Erickson, I will say that I spent the entire noon hour trying to get in touch with Erickson. Le Ae Wine, 207 West 6th St., Stroud, Oklahoma. Dear Mr. Wise: The shatterproof glasses that our boys wore in basket- ball ware prescription glasses which wa obtained through an oculist. ‘The boys, of course, took the glasses with them when-they finished school, and of course they would not fit anyone else. I would suggest that you micht get some eye glass protectors for the boy, such as are sold by the athletic - goods firms. These are inexpensive in comparison to the shatterproof glasses, and fit right over the glasses much like a softball catcher's mask. If you have access to a Lowe & Campbell Athletic Goods catalog you will find @ description of then, or you might write to the firm in Kansas City, if you are interested. I have two boys whom I believe will make real. plavers . Mv own son , Don , is 13 , six feet tall and weighs 150 pounds , plays quite a bit of running guard . The other boy , J.T.Poskey is 14 , about 5foot, 10 inches tall an is extremely cuick in starting an fast getting down the court. He is a natural plaver but has a serious handicap . He is near sighted and has to wear glasses to eorrect his vision . A couple of years ago I was in Lawrence and as an old K.U. student I went to see your Jayhawks beat Denver U . I noted the fact that three of your boys wore shatterproof glasses taped to their heads during the game . I wonder if you would beko an old pair of unbreakable glasses sor near siehtedness which you would send me rr the Poskey boy .
